La Escuela en abril de 2013 / The School in april 2013

Esta es la situación a fecha de hoy:

 

• Tenemos 5 ñiños nuevos
• Los salarios de los profesores se han pagado hasta diciembre de 2012, teniendo 2 meses de retraso
• teníamos 4 clases, y se han combinado los niveles 4+3, y 2+1, para que 2 profesores puedan atenderlos. Los pequeños (infantil)  tienen un profesor para ellos.
• Tenemos 2 vigilante; uno de noche y otro de día
• Hay que comprar agua a diario, ya que no tenemos suministro
• Tenemos material escolar, pero aún por debajo del estándar marcado por el Ministerio de Educación.
• El ayuntamiento requiere el pago de los impuestos, bajo amenaza de cierre. También exige el cercado de la escuela, para prevenir acciedentes

Desafortunadamente, a día de hoy, la Empresa Social dista de ser sostenible. Por ello, nos han solicitado ayuda por un valor de 2240 euros (conversión €/Ksh=109,4). Al final, hemos decidido arriesgarnos, y realizar el envío 2400 (justificante), dado que hemos recibido una donación adicional de 300 eur, dejando casi vacía la caja de la Asociación. Si no lo hacemos así, la escuela tendrá que cerrrar. Hemos dejado claro que es un préstamo adicional a la inversión inicial, sin interés, y con plazo de devolución indefinido.

Aquí está la lista de elementos en los que se va a invertir el dinero:

Up to date, this is the situation:

1.        Teachers:   We have paid salaries up to December 2012.  As I speak now, we have 2 months arrears.

                                           

2.       We have children in class 4, 3, 2 and 1.  These classes have been combined 4 and 3, 2-1 so that the two teachers can manage them well.

We have the baby class with one teacher who has the toughest job because of the small kids whom she has to attend to every now and then.

3.       We have 2 watchmen, one day and one night shift.  

5.       There is no water at the school; we have to buy water every day.  This is expensive too but we are doing it. 

6.       Text Books and Other Teaching Aids:  We have bought many text books and teaching aids but we are still below the required standard by Ministry of Education.  We are still required to buy many teaching aids and teachers books.

7.       The municipal people visited us recently and told us that we have to get the licence which we do not have.  The license costs Kshs. 11200=.  This is too urgent or our project might be closed down.  They also forced us to fence the compound to protect the children from accidents.


In conclusion, and unfortunately, the social enterprise is too far to be sustainable. For that reason, we have been requested an additional help of 2240 euros (conversion €/Ksh=109,4). We have decided to take the risk, and send the money (a little bit more, since we have received a donation of 300 eur), leaving our reserves empty. It must be clear that it is an additional loan, without interest rate. On the contrary, the school would have to close. This is the transaction
